Ron's Transplant Fund
My name is Nina, and I am creating this GoFundMe page on behalf of my dad, Ron Weaver. Ron is 64 years old, a husband to Julie and a father to myself and my sister, Ashley.
As many of you already know, Ron has been battling lung disease for many years. After a rapid worsening of symptoms, he received the diagnosis of a rare disease called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in June 2018. IPF is an incurable, terminal disease that requires a double lung transplant for survival. The cause of the disease is unknown, and the survival rate from diagnosis without transplant is only a few years.
After a referral from Ron's pulmonologist, our family traveled to St. Louis, Missouri to visit Barnes Jewish Hospital in September for a transplant evaluation. BJH does many lung transplants a year and their program is very prestigious and successful. The evaluation went well and, pending a couple more tests, Ron will be listed for a transplant the week of October 15th.
The average wait time at Barnes for a transplant is 3 months. Per doctors' orders, Ron and Julie will have to move to St. Louis at the time of the listing and live there until 3 months post-transplant. We are raising money for transplant, as well as living and travel expenses for our family.
We appreciate all prayers, well-wishes, positive thoughts and donations more than you could imagine.
I will keep updates on this page as well as a group Facebook page.
