Ronalees cancer battle!

Hi…my name is Colleen and I have started this go fund me to help my very best friend in the entire world.

Ronalee is a daughter, niece, cousin, friend, wife and most importantly a mother to 4 children. In December 2023 Ronalee went into Dryden emergency with a pain persisting in her ribs. After having a CT scan she was told they found a large mass in her left lung. This began a series of biopsies, tests, and scans.

Sadly it was determined that the breast cancer she had beat in 2009 had returned. This time as stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. It has already spread to her lung and her brain.

Another blow came when she was told this cancer is not curable. It can only be slowed down with continued treatments.

Ronalee has already been to Toronto for her first two rounds of radiation on her brain. The cancer in her brain will continue to grow so she will have to return to Toronto every 3 months for the rest of her life to keep it at bay with continuing radiation. On top of this she will be starting chemo and radiation in Thunder Bay as well. The chemo will also be life long for Ronalee as well as radiation as needed for other parts of her body.

As if all of this isn’t enough…..Ronalees husband has taken a leave from work to be with her through all of these appointments, tests, scans, surgeries, radiation etc. His insurance company has denied his claim several times. He not only needs to be with Ronalee but they also have 2 small children at home who need him when their mom can’t be there. Ronalee has been self employed for quite a few years now and has had to close her business while she uses all of her energy to fight this difficult battle. Being self employed means she does not qualify for any benefits or subsidized income. Insurance denying her husbands claim means he has had no income while being off of work. As we can all imagine the continued trips to Toronto and Thunder Bay will put some additional financial stress on the family so I am asking all of you to please help one of the most deserving people I know during her most difficult time.

Ronalee is selfless. Always putting everyone before herself even when she is sick. Please help me help them alleviate some of the stress and burden from this family.
