Ron Paice

Ron Paice is a long time resident of Hudson’s Hope B.C.  He started working at the W.A.C. Bennett Dam in the early 60’s.  He built his house in Beryl Prairie in 1966, later purchasing land down the road and moving his house onto it.  He raised two daughters there with his wife Jean.  In 1987 they divorced and Ron married Valerie Martin Abbott in 1989.  He then raised her daughter like his own, and then raised his step-grandson like his own son. When Valerie’s brother  Gary died, Ron provided a home for Gary’s 5 children.

Ron has always been a neighbour that never hesitated to help anyone and he worked hard his whole life.  He drove tour bus for B.C. Hydro at 82 years of age, until the fall of 2019.
The summer of 2019 was very stressful as Ron was told by Valerie to move into the upstairs tiny bedroom and to eat his meals in the kitchen there.  He relented and moved upstairs to keep the peace. He was only allowed to go downstairs when Valerie was at work from 8 to 11:30 a.m.  When she was entertaining company she would lock the basement door so he couldn’t access the basement. On October 6, 2019 things got worse when Ron arrived home from visiting his family to find that Valerie had moved her boyfriend Rodney into her bedroom.  She told Ron he needs to get out.   With limited choices Ron ended up spending the winter of 2019 living with his daughters.  If it hadn’t been for the help of friends and his daughters he would only have the clothes on his back.  Years of emotional abuse, physical neglect and manipulation of his money has devastated this man, my friend who is now 83 years old.  Ron is currently paying rent in the seniors appt’s in Hudson’s Hope, as well as trying to help pay his lawyers bills with only his old age pension and CPP.

Ron is in the fight of his life, please help our neighbour, our friend.
