Rogers Rally

At some point in our lives, most of us will have a conversation with someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. You'll want to help but may not know how, what to do or even what to say.
Hello everyone my name is Goran Bujak and Im here in support of Roger Caenen's rally with cancer. Roger has been my best friend and side kick for well over 3 decades. Growing up, you would rarely see one without the other. Roger and I first met on the soccer field in little league. I remember the team was called Grand River Trojans. Roger was defence and I was goalkeeper.  Since then Roger has always had my back and never let me down. Fast forward 35 years and you hear the horrible words "Goran, I have cancer"  You world begins to change immediately. Now it's time for me to have Rogers back. As most of you already know, Roger has been diagnosed with stage 3B aggresive lung cancer. When I heard the devestating news, it took me a while to process. I was angry, and sad and it sent me on a rollercoaster of emotions. So many questions, and not enough answers. Why Roger? He's already been through enough obstacles, more than most people see in a lifetime.  He doesn't need this; no one needs this.
It all stems from one sunny day when Roger and his soon to be lovely wife Paula Clarke, whom I believe is Rogers angel sent from heaven, decided to take a trip to beautiful Newfoundland to visit Paulas family.  Shortly before their return, Roger had a sore throat and noticed a lump starting to form on the side of his neck. Roger was given an ultrasound, bloodwork, and a chest xray. When the xrays came back they had found some gray matter on his lungs. A biopsy was then issued. When the results were in it became official.  Roger was diagnosed with  STAGE 3 aggressive lung cancer, and now in the fight for his life. This particular cancer is called ALK Mutation Positive lung cancer. A medical term that refers to a primary malignant lung tumor whos cells contain a characteristic abnormal configuration of Rogers DNA. Treatments were explained to Roger. Radiation was declined because by this point the cancer had spread to both lungs and started to go behind his heart. Chemo and immunotherapy were explained but had a lower success rate. They opted for pill form which was the best option for Roger.
So I am reaching out to everyone with the support of the Caenen and Clarke family.  Please help my best friend Roger in his time of need and let's show him that the ethos of humanity still exists. A special thanks to my dear friends Tracey Retzler and Rhonda ( Paula's sister) and team Penske, for all their help and support. May God bless each and everyone of you. There is an old saying that goes " A healthy man has a thousand wishes, but a sick man has one wish." Lets all pull together to give Roger his thousand wishes!
