It is the 20 year anniversary of the ROCKRGRL Music Conference 2000 in Seattle, Washington. With more than 500 attendees, it was the largest event ever held for female musicians. Speakers and performers included Courtney Love, Ronnie Spector, Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls, Wanda Jackson, Mo Tucker, Carol Kaye and many, many more.
It is also the 15th anniversary of the 2nd ROCKRGRL Music Conference 2005 in Seattle with Keynote speaker Patti Smith.
The footage taken during those historic weekends are STILL on VHS tapes, Mini DVs, Lucie Hard Drives and other no longer supported formats!
I have been meaning to get around to digitizing all this material - but my procrastination has come at great cost! I recently had one VHS tape of Courtney Love's Q&A session re-formatted to the cloud and the cost for that one tape alone was $55 through YES Video.
I have also investigated other options like Legacy Box, but reviews are not great. And VHS players - used - on Amazon run $400.
I also purchased a CD / DVD player for my computer only to receive error messages that whatever format they were recorded in is no longer supported. UGH!
So before these recordings are lost forever, I need your help to raise enough money to cover the costs of digitizing whatever is still digitizable.
