Rock-n-roll humanist drag queen story hour

Hi, we are the Reed’s. My husband Aaron has been a volunteer charity director for 8 years and has event promoting experience of 20 years. “I walked out of my last charity because of rampant transphobia from the members and the founder. I very publicly resigned and started my gig with a new charity, a humanist group, a few months ago and wanted to start out with a bang. Throw the kind of event I always wanted to but always got vetoed by bigots. They weren’t ready to go that big yet, so I decided to do it myself. I have all the connections and resources to make this happen, and watch me fly. I found a venue in my rural hometown that had a trans son and desperately wanted to do this with me. A local internet hate preacher with political aspirations declared a fatwa against me. I wanted to take my little girl to a trans story hour and read about human equality, and nobody had the guts to do it, so it was up to me. And the hate preacher released the hounds, a deluge of threats and phone calls and harassment, it is the definition of a stochastic terrorism campaign. They threatened everyone involved, my sponsors, my talent, my venue, and the trans charity set to receive the donations. They were the last to back out for safety concerns just an hour ago as I write this. So now I’m doing this entirely myself.”

We paid for a venue out of our pocket, got the event insurance and submitted the permit with the help of our generous donors. This is gonna happen. We will never bow to hate. This is the front lines of our modern civil rights struggle, this is where the fight is at. Charities from all over Ohio started contacting him and the media for interviews. The outpouring of love and support has been as amazing as the hate has been despicable. This is an “All cards called” situation. We’ve got faithful people in the community who go to the same churches as these people horrified and asking how THEY Can help. What we need is for everyone to activate any friend, charity, social, or fantasy football network they have. Tell your friends what is going on here in Wadsworth. That how you can volunteer. Organize them to come and show these bigots they’re outnumbered even on their own side, they’re just the angriest and loudest. Their time has ended. No more lgbtq segregation. We need to stand up together and say in one voice that we love ALL OUR NEIGHBORS, and that public spaces aren’t just for straight white Christian nationalists. The event page is on Facebook. Light it up for us.

ALL proceeds generated from this event will be donated to the local LGBTQ+ charity of B. Riley House and the friends and family of the Q Night Club Tragedy.

With all our love, The Reeds
