Australian Bushfires Relief Concert @ UUU

This fundraiser event aims to bring the Rochester community together to support and raise money towards the bushfires in Australia.

The concert will feature a line up of local musicians on February 7, 7:30pm at UUU Art Collective. All door sales ($15) and any extra donations will go directly towards an organisation of choice. Even if you can't make the event please consider a contribution!

All funds will be donated directly to the organisations. 
 

Victoria and New South Wales have been worst affected, as well as South Australia. Although cooler conditions have brought some respite, more than 60 fires are still burning in the states of New South Wales and Victoria. Some 30 people have so far been killed - including four firefighters - and more than 10 million hectares of bush, forest and parks across Australia has burned.

It's been estimated that 1.25 billion native animals have perished in the Australian bushfires, including koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas and more. As many as 8,400 koalas may have already perished in the fires in NSW alone, and these numbers continue to rise.

Many First Nations people's have been affected by these tragic circumstances with losses of homes/ severe damage to property and important parts of the landscape .  Many of these community have now been forced to evacuate the region's of their homes and forced to seek temporary / ongoing living arrangements in other parts of Victoria and NSW .
