Robin's Refuge Seeks Forever Home!

My name is Julia Robin, and in September of 2015, I was allowed the opportunity to pursue my lifelong mission - alongside my incredible mother - when we founded Robin's Refuge Farm Sanctuary.
Robin's Refuge is a family run farm sanctuary, non discriminatory to all species of animals, that works to awaken the public to the sentient and emotional creatures that all animals are.
The sanctuary is funded primarily through my mother's full time profession, and is run day to day by myself, as my full time - 365 days a year - 24 hours a day, career. For those of you who know us, you know that asking for help is something we find difficult to do.
Presently the sanctuary resides on land we have leased from a friend. Unfortunately, we have been notified that the property is being listed for sale, and we must move. We have always been prepared for the possibility, and have been saving to purchase a farm that will serve as the permanent home to the sanctuary.
Well... we are thrilled to say that after countless hours of searching, we have found our dream property! Located just 40 minutes from Calgary, the property is set on 25 beautiful pastured acres. It also features a large shop complete with electricity and heating for the pigs and cats, a spacious barn that will be utilized for the horses after some finishing work, ample space for future piggy pastures, and several expansive cross fenced fields! Beautifully set up for our needs, this property will allow our current residents to flourish, while still offering plenty of space for new residents to find safety with us.
The timing is right, the property is the one. But we face a massive hurdle. We are just over $14,000 shy of affording the perfect property for Robin's Refuge to call home.
Below is an approximate breakdown of the expenses we face upon closing:
- Transportation costs to move our seven equine residents to the new property (as they must travel in a group of 3, and a group of 4)

- Create a half wall dividing the pig shop into two sections.
(estimated cost: $500)
- Fence two pig pastures.
(estimated cost: $2,000)
- Finish fencing the front horse pastures.
(estimated cost: $1,000)
- Purchase 3 horse shelters for the pastures for immediate winter use.
(estimated cost $3,600)
- Purchase a second hand farm utility vehicle for hauling hay/straw/shavings, cleaning animal paddocks, cutting grass, and plowing the driveway.

While we have put on much smaller scale fundraisers over the last two years, we have never attempted to raise an amount of this magnitude. However, Robin's Refuge has always been about building our place within the community, and making a safe space of equality and peace for all those who step through our doors. Therefore we are turning to you for help now.
