Support Robin & Jacob's Cross-Country Cycling Trip!

Robin Hersh and Jacob Miller are both dedicated and passionate athletes, with a particular love for the sport of cycling. Robin and Jacob met almost 20 years ago, at the start of their freshman year at Yorktown High School in Arlington, Virginia. After losing touch after graduation, they both separately pursued their interests in physical activity & excellence. When Robin and Jacob reconnected years later, their friendship immediately rekindled, along with their shared enthusiasm for cycling. Robin's focus and strength, combined with her experience as a personal trainer, are a perfect complement for Jacob's extensive cycling experience, making them the ultimate training duo.

Since their reunion, Robin and Jacob ride together regularly. No matter whether it is a "short" 18-mile ride, or one of their more epic rides of over 100 miles, their rides always end with ear-to-ear smiles. As soon as one ride ends, they are already excitedly discussing when their next ride will be (as long as it doesn't conflict with one of Robin's many marathons or triathlons!).

Jacob and Robin enjoy yearly century rides along the W&OD trail. They have also completed a one-day 128-mile round trip road bike from Washington, D.C. to Baltimore, M.D. Another crazy ride was a muddy, 186-mile mountain bike single day ride along the C&O Canal, round trip from D.C. to Harper's Ferry WV.

The duo next have their sights set on a life changing 6 week long cross country bicycle trip beginning August 16th 2013. They have been training rigorously to prepare for this endeavor and, in order to succeed, they need additional financial support to accompany their determination and athletic prowess. Throughout the ride, Robin and Jacob will be posting updates via social media to share experiences with their extensive network of friends, clients, colleagues and fellow athletes. Sponsors will be regularly acknowledged and highlighted in these updates. Additional funds raised will be donated to the Boston One Fund to support the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Jacob learned how to ride at five years old and hasn't stopped since! He studied at Northern Arizona University and turned his love of the outdoors into a B.S.E. in Environmental Geology, paying for college by helping out with research in the Grand Canyon. After 4 years as a geologic consultant in AZ, Jacob moved back to DC and rekindled his love of cycling. After three years back in the industry, Jacob has achieved the position of Manager and Master Mechanic of one of the oldest bicycle shops in DC.
