Robert Cornick Memorial Bench at Trafford MV RFCC

*Update 03.09.2021 Ladies, Gentlemen and Former Players, we would like to invite you to our first Memorial Day event in memory of Andy Jeal, Robert Cornick, and others who have passed over the past 18 months or more.
The day will be a celebration of life, as well as a wonderful game of rugby played between teams made up of current and former players, as a way of celebrating the impact both Andy and Rob, had on all who knew them, both on and off the field.
The date for Memorial Day is Saturday 25th September 2021, with the day starting at 12noon, when the club opens. The match will kick off at 1.45pm, with the unveiling of the benches, thereafter.
It would be great to see the friends and families of both Andy Jeal and Rob Cornick on the day, as well as those near and dear to Billy Rhodes. Also to Mo Diamond who provided the post-match catering for many a year at the club.

*Update 19.11 - We are not shocked, given the man he was, but are pleased to announce we have made well in excess of the funds needed for Robs bench and in super quick time too. We have heard lots of people still wanting to donate and are pleased to confirm that all excess money will be used with two purposes, to also buy a bench for ALL former players and members that we have lost alongside planning to run a club day next year, with open invites to all current and former members and friends of course. Details to be confirmed for the Robert Cornick vs Andy Jeal Memorial Game.
In Loving memory of our friend, and team mate. We will be running a 5.3km run on Friday 15th January 2021, Rob would have turned 53 and was an avid runner and fundraiser for so many great causes, always supporting others in their fundraising too! The aim of the run and fundraiser is to finance a memorial bench at the clubhouse, that we can each use to sit and reminisce, it was discussed if it should be in the showers, one of Robs favourite locations for a chat.
Rob was and always will be a much respected, loved and valued player and member of Trafford MV where he had made friends across many teams over the decades he had played at the Club.
Arriving in the early 90's Rob soon fitted in at MV with his friendly, gregarious nature endearing him to all his team mates. He showed grit and determination in his game which soon brought him into 1st XV Rugby where he made centre partnerships which brought promotions and trophies to MV.
Rob enjoyed the changing room banter and was always a big joker in whichever team he played in. He showed his quality as a player featuring strongly in 1st XV Rugby but he also showed his quality as a man by fitting into whichever team he was selected for offering the same strength and support to his team mate at all levels of the game.
Recent seasons had seen Rob settle into 3rd XV and Vets Rugby which would undoubtedly have seen him enjoy many more seasons playing for the Club he loved.
Rob was a proud Bristolian enjoying his West Country roots and following the fortunes of Bristol Bears. He was a respected teacher at Trinity High School and will surely be missed in the classroom as well as the staff room.
Rob was keen on keeping fit and over the years grew into running completing several 10ks and half marathons (might even have got a full marathon or two under his belt). Cycling and 5 a side football were also high on his list of past times.
Rob was a proud family man and we send our deepest thoughts to his close family.

One bench is around £585.
