Hi, I'm Rob Poth an Alpine Ski Racer living in Hertfordshire. I am 21 years old and a member of the Delancey British Europa Cup Squad for the 2018/19 season. This year will mark my 10th year being a member on the British Ski Team and 3rd consecutive year of being ranked amongst the top 5 best Slalom skiers in Britain!
Alpine Ski Racing is a hugely costly sport and unfortunately there are very little government subsidies for ski racers like myself. All of this has to be funded on a private basis. Following my selection to the Delancey British Europa Cup squad earlier this year after my 2017/18 season results, I have been given the opportunity to train with the British Europa Cup team.
This selection has always been one of my goals and I was delighted to receive the news. It is an achievement gained not just for me but also for my many supporters who have followed my progress and encouraged and supported me throughout the years. I know and understand that without the supporters around me, I wouldn't be where I am today and for that I am truly grateful.
The prospect to train with the national team at such a high level is an opportunity that I don't want to refuse in my career. However, by accepting this offer it comes with a very high cost for the season which is in excess of £30,000.
I am creating this crowdfunding campaign to kindly request peoples support, in order to raise funds to cover some of my season costs. It has come to a point in my career where the financial strain on me and my parents is just far too much. Fundraising solutions are now much needed in order for me to hopefully carry on competing for Great Britain and keep my dream alive of becoming one of the best alpine skiers in the world!
