Rob and Pam

Donation protected
On the 27th of February 2018, Pam's partner Rob suffered a severe stroke caused by a brain hemorrhage.

Less than two weeks before this, Pam, Rob and their two year old son Jackson celebrated the birth of baby boy Finn.

It has now become clear that the bleed on Rob’s brain was due to a tumour.  UPDATE (April 14): They have been told it is a slow-growing tumour called a hemangiopericytoma which at this point is benign but may require surgery down the road.

Pam and Rob lived in Nairobi where Rob received lifesaving emergency neurosurgery and care in the ICU for several weeks, but they have now moved to the UK where Rob is from, to start the hard work of stroke rehabilitation.  Starting from a baseline of being unable to breathe independently, move, or communicate, Rob has already made steady and significant progress, and is giving everyone hope for a good recovery.

Rob, Pam and the boys, along with their families and friends now face the toughest challenge of their lives and we would like to help support them by raising money.

Rob is an amazing partner, friend, brother, son, and father.  This news has devastated so many people all around the world and has left Jackson missing his dad, Rob missing the first special weeks of little Finn's life, and Pam in the hardest situation imaginable. Pam has used her remarkable strength, resiliency and optimism to get through the first part of this difficult time. This should be the happiest time for Pam and Rob as a new family of four, but they are an incredibly strong and determined pair and we hope by mobilising as much support as possible we can help get Rob back at Pam's side with the boys.

The funds will go towards anything that will help Pam and Rob, from everyday living expenses to medical and rehabilitation costs. These are all unknown as yet but will be extensive, even with many costs hopefully covered by insurance.  Pam and the boys have moved to the UK, leaving their life and stability in Nairobi behind, but gaining proximity to Rob's network of family and friends for support as he recovers in hospital.  Living expenses and childcare will likely be significant costs.  Updates about specific needs will be given as and when they are possible.

There is uncertainty ahead and we are at the start of this journey but we know it will be a long one and any donation will be massively appreciated, used well, and we hope with all our heart, bring the family back together.

Thank you for your support.

This was due to some confusion around financial regulations.  Canadians can actually donate to either page.

For NON-CANADIAN donors, please direct your support to the UK page, to prevent extra (though small) costs with currency conversion.  Please use and share the following page, thank you!
