GB Para Athlete to compete in Thailand&Canada
Donation protected
In 2017 I had my back broken during a rugby match which instantly paralysed me for the rest of my life leaving me reliant on my wheelchair. I spent 6 months in hospital learning how to transfer, manage catheters and medication. I thought my sporting days were over until I was introduced to Para Ice Hockey or Sledge Hockey as it also known. This sport has helped me massively; physically and mentally.
I trained hard to represent my country in August this year with GB women’s para ice hockey team in the women’s world challenge in Green Bay, USA. I will be representing my country again, as a member of Team GB Para Ice Hockey Team in Thailand. This is an honour as I will be going with the Mens national team. Women have always been able to roster with the national teams we see in the Winter Olympics but not many countries choose to even though worldwide there are some exceptional women that represent a sport I love. This is where our country is not like the rest and is taking three women with them in there Pool C tournament in THAILAND.
I then have a another competition in Canada in January 2023
If we can win promotion to Pool B, we would qualify to compete in the next Winter Olympics. Unfortunately Para Ice Hockey receives NO Government funding, and as many other para athletes, most of us are all self funded so with this I’m asking if you share my page, and if you can spare a donation towards an exciting opportunity it would be most appreciated! All monies raised will go towards funding the expense of going out to the tournament in Thailand, and for the cost of new equipment. Thank you for your support. Any donations you can make will be hugely appreciated.
