Santiago's Funeral

Donation protected
Dear friends,

I hope you are all keeping safe in these strange and trying times.

As some of you may already know, the excruciating pain of the unimaginable has happened to our dearest Santiago. About a month ago he was attacked outside a bar on the old Kent Road. Sustaining major brain injuries he was rushed to Kings Hospital where he had emergency brain surgery. Within the first week he started to make a good recovery, even speaking and being able to move his hands.
However, a month on, a leakage was discovered on his brain and operated on for a second time. His condition worsened and with a heavy heart I can tell you he passed away on the evening of Tuesday 31st of March 2020. This was devastating as even after the incident we had so much hope and joy that Santiago was getting better and recovering well.

Santiago was an amazing father to three wonderful children and acted as a role model, a supporter and a provider to his family in Ecuador. He was a loving partner of nine years and a half, to Me and a supportive, caring older brother to two younger brothers whom he acted as a father figure for.

Santiago was more than just these things to others, he was a great person, had a passion for football, he was strong, brave, hard-working and funny. He loved cooking and was a great chef, he was talkative, engaging, thoughtful, selfless, humble, respectable and who was loved by many.

Santiago's sudden death has been heart-breaking for his family and loved ones and we can't begin to understand why he was taken from us so suddenly and in such a horrible way. We pray God is with Santiago and that we will see him again, he will be truly missed and if you ever had the pleasure of meeting him, you would know the wonderful person he was.

We would love to give Santiago the funeral he deserves by sending him back to his homeland Ecuador, for his burial so that all of his family members can be present. Amidst all this current unrest, the funeral costs and transportation of the body are extortionate. We would be forever grateful if you might be able to put a small something towards sending Santiago home and to support his mother in Ecuador who he'd often send money to.We know these are difficult times for all so even the smallest contribution would mean the world.

Let us always remember that in a blink of an eye, everything can change. So forgive often and love with all your heart. You may never have that chance again.

God bless you Santiago.  You will be truly missed.
