RMDS Financial Assistance Fund

Ring Mountain Day School is a place where kids are seen for who they are.

RMDS’s program emphasizes offering financial assistance significantly above the private school norm to financially disadvantaged families with exceptional and deserving children. Forty percent (40%) of our students receive some form of financial aid, well above the average 18% for independent schools.   We are a tax deductible 501c3 organization and need your help to continue this work. 

RMDS serves students grades K-8 and is without peers in offering a uniquely intimate setting.  Fostering curiosity and thinking critically is the ultimate goal in every class and every lesson, as we teach our students how to think, not what to think.  Our small class sizes, allow students to be themselves in a nurturing and compassionate environment where teachers truly teach to each and every child.

The combined grade K-5 classes show kids how to live in a community of learners, nurture and foster the best they can be, and help them master the fundamentals.  The upper grades are designed for discussion-based learning utilizing the Harkness method of education where students deeply discuss ideas as a group, use compassion to listen, and empathy to understand, and find the courage to speak up.  There are also plenty of opportunities for the older kids to help and nudge the younger kids along.

But, we have a problem:

We do not have a formal fundraising mechanism for Financial Assistance.  Due to our small community, there are limits to how much we can raise.  We need to help cover the cash gap for Financial Assistance. 

A bit about our student makeup:

More than 50% of students transfer in after kindergarten
40% of students receive some sort of financial assistance
Approximately 70% of students live in Marin County
Approximately 30% of students live in San Francisco
This school, what we do and how we do it is NEEDED by a wide variety of students in San Francisco and Marin.  Please consider donating much needed funds to our Financial Assistance program.

Why give to us?  Maybe you want to support a school as committed to individualized learning as it is to offering financial assistance thus ensuring access.  Maybe you know someone, your friend/sister/brother/cousin who as a kid just never found her place in school who thought that she could never be good at school.  Or who just wanted to be seen.  And heard.  For who she was.  Maybe you were that kid.  No one school can be everything for everyone, but Ring Mountain comes pretty close for the lucky ones who find it.

RMDS is truly a jewel of a school that needs your support to continue to be able to provide this education to all the kids that need and deserve.
