Hi there. This page is for Hilary Smith... to fund heart surgery and incidentals not covered by Medicare.
Her heart is not operating as it should and she is in dire need of a defibrillator to make it do what it should. Her doctor tells her she could pass away without warning.
Hilary is a strong woman, having overcome bilateral breast cancer, surviving typohoid, has had previous open heart surgery to repair and replace valvles, currently receives cortisone shots to deal with a disc pressing on her spine.
Now her heart is stopping and causing her to pass out sometimes and her biggest fear is not waking up again... which her doctor says is entirely possible.
Her partner passed away 8 years ago with an unexpected heart attack and so she now lives alone on a very limited income. She makes this work, however, the expense of airfare, accommodations, food and transpo to Santa Fe to the heart surgeon is way beyond her means.
She has been overseeing a group of lovely women ,the amazing Blanket Babes, who crochet squares for making blankets. These are for the poor in Mexico who live in the country and are gradually being provided housing by CasitaLinda.org ,but need some comforts that are hard to to come by. She wants to continue doing this and contributing, but the irony is not lost on her that she is now the one in need.
If any of you can contribute in any way, she will be eternally grateful. She wants to live! She has so much left to do! Please help.
