Doug’s Medical Expenses

October 1, 2018

Hello again friends! We want to thank you all again from the bottom of our hearts for everything you have done to support my Dad through this illness and recovery. Words are simply not adequate to express how much it means to all of us!

Doctors are beginning to discuss what my Dad (Doug) will need in order to be safe and comfortable and continue recovering at home. The list is not a long one, but it is a rather expensive one. Among the needed items are a portable medical oxygen tank system and a hospital bed. My dad has said that he would rather sleep in his regular bed, in which case he would still need a bed rail in case of seizures and a firm wedge pillow or similar to keep him partially upright. He will also need a physical therapist to come to his home a few days a week to help him to rebuild his strength.

Any donations received go directly towards the cost of Doug’s medical bills and supplies. As always, no amount is too small. It adds up quickly and is very much appreciated. Also appreciated as always are prayers, shares, and words of encouragement.

Thank you again! God bless!

Friends, please consider helping us raise money for Douglas Evans. Douglas is a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is a caring and compassionate man who rarely seeks help from anyone.

Sadly, Doug has been afflicted over the years with various health concerns, including, but not limited to chronic pain and epilepsy.

On September 9, Doug suffered seizures lasting for several hours. After his condition did not improve and in fact worsened, the decision was made to hospitalize him. He was admitted to the ICU, where he currently remains.

Doctors are continuing to do everything they can to help Doug recover. He is being weaned off of a ventilator in the hopes that he will remain stable and continue breathing on his own. Oxygen continues to be pumped in, and he is practicing inhaling on his own.

Your generous donations are greatly appreciated!!! Doug and his wife have many hurdles yet to overcome including loss of income and an insurance plan that “reimburses” the cost of a hospital stay. Any help, whether in the form of a cash donation, a share, a prayer, or words of encouragement for Doug makes a huge difference. Thank you all for your continued support!!!

Excerpt from original posting 9/9/2018:

“Twenty four hours ago, Doug suffered seizures lasting for several hours. After his condition did not improve and in fact worsened, the decision was made to hospitalize him. He is currently in ICU.

Doctors are doing many tests. However, His health insurance does not cover hospital stays. The hospital in the Manila, Philippines area, requires a deposit equivalent to approximately $600 to cover what they call a security. If this is not paid within 48 hours of admission, care can be “paused”.

For Doug, this could make a life saving difference. Please friends, consider donating any amount you can afford. No amount is too big or small. All of it makes a difference and will be so greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.”
