The woman in these photos is my sister-in-law, Mary Jane Nebres-Daclitan. After four years of coming and visiting the Philippines, I know her well, a good sister to my wife, and a matriarchal figure in the family. How sorry I felt for her present situation: she used to be a cheerful, active, adventurous, and thoughtful person, and a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, actively involved in the singing ministry until her accident, and is still a faithful woman who fears God and is precious to her family.
One day earlier this year, her life changed, when she met with a tragic accident on the 3rd day of March, 2019. She was immediately rushed to the hospital. After some lab tests, she underwent emergency surgery for a C5 C6 (cervical spine operation) at the back of her neck, a titanium plate was installed. It was a critical operation, but she survived. Suffering from paralysis, but improving, she was then permitted to go home on the 27th day of March, 2019.
Three days later, on the 6th day of April 2019, she was rushed back to the hospital due to breathing difficulty and bladder malfunction, and was immediately taken to the ICU, where she has been lying on her hospital sick bed up to this time. She now has a gastrostomy, a colostomy, and a tracheostomy. Despite all of this tremendous suffering and hardship, and delays in her recovery, she is still striving for her life each day. Her daily medications, food, doctors’ fees, and hospital room with care are all very costly, yet we are still hopeful, knowing that we can see some improvement from her every day.
I made this fundraising campaign to find resources for her care and is to be used only to meet her continuous daily needs, in an effort to avert termination of her vital life-saving care, due to rising medical costs, so that she has more time and the possibility to recover. I invite all medical professionals who have time to offer advice, or to share specialist referrals, or to give any assistance concerning her treatment, to please make contact with us.
