Raymond Jr Villar. A.K.A. (RJ) is a 10 year old boy who has been healthy all his life. He is into sports, playing on basketball and football teams in Daly City. He was in a basketball tournament last week and was tripped and fell hard on the floor and hurt his stomach. The Sunday following he was complaining about stomach pain. His mom, Michelle, set up a doctors appointment Monday. RJ was seen by his regular doctor and she recommended getting a CT scan due to his belly being firm. At this point the doctor assumed his spleen probably was swollen do to the fall. RJ went to get the CT scan and they found his spleen was enlarged. RJ was sent to the ER to make sure his spleen wasn't raptured. Thank god it wasn't!! Blood work was done and they found abnormalities in his blood. RJ was transferred to Kaiser Hospital pediatric ICU in Santa Clara. His father Ray Villar and mother Michelle Villar were met by doctors upon arriving and told them that it looks as though RJ has a cancer called CML (chronic myeloid leukemia). Ray and Michelle were devastated. RJ will be taking an oral chemo which are medication pills everyday, once a day for this lifetime. He is still in the hospital and will remain there until his white blood cells show signs of improvement. He has been in the hospital for 5 days and expected to be in for at least another 5 days. Each night in the hospital is over $600. RJ, Michelle and Ray are blessed that this type of leukemia is treatable without radiation and only with medication but the medical bills will be adding up. Please help RJ and his family. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
