Rizzo Hit By A Car, Vet Bills
Rizzo escaped from a fenced in yard on Thursday, 9/13, at 3 p.m. He appeared near my house, over a mile away from the place he disappeared from, at 6 p.m. on Friday night. He was limping badly and covered in cuts and scrapes. Our primary vet said he was definitely hit by a car. She took X-Rays and sent us to Tufts in N. Grafton, where they told us that Rizz would require surgery to fix his leg, which was broken into 3 separate pieces. There are also a bunch of tiny bony fragments loose in the area. He had some heart arrhythmia, but they said that it was getting better so he likely won't need further treatment for that. The surgery won't happen until Monday or Tuesday, so he'll be at Tufts for a total of 4-5 nights. The overnight stay, plus fluid IVs, pain meds, and the surgery will run us $5000- $7000 dollars.
I know that it was a terrible accident, and no one is really at fault here. We'll do whatever it takes to pay for his treatment- we already got a Care Credit card and are willing to max it out. We can't put a price on our best friend. We rescued him as a baby, and we've been inseparable since. He's my best friend, and it feels wrong to be home without him. However, I'm in school and I already work as much as humanly possible (full time, like 50 hours a week on top of school), and this expense really isn't something we were prepared for. If you can't help, please just send good thoughts our way for a quick, easy recovery for my boy. Thank you!
