Dear Friends and Family,
It is never easy to lose a loved one, especially unexpectedly. Our hearts are heavy with our dear Friend and Colleauge Evelyn and her family as they mourn the loss of their Mother, Rita Kent.
I come to you to ask for your help in raising funds to help Evelyn and her family in Funeral and Memorial arrangements for the loss of their dear Mother, Grandmother and a Friend to many, and an inspiring women who loved her community.
On February 20th, Rita Kent (Evelyn’s Mother) was called to be with the Lord. It was also Evelyn’s birthday. Evelyn shares a post that touched many of us here that work with her:
“32 years ago today, my Mother watched me open my eyes for the first time. This morning, I saw hers closed for the last time.
Wishing my Mother, the incomparable Rita Kent, eternal peace in Heaven”
After speaking to former co-workers, family and friends, they share of how Ms. Kent was a strong community advocate, a beautiful public servant, and how everyone loved her. Ms. Kent was hired in 1979 by the San Bernardino City Fire Department (now known as the San Bernardino County Fire) as a clerk. She was one of the first African American women to work for the San Bernardino City/County Department and being an African American female excelling in the fire department environment in that era, she held her own, worked hard and was truly loved by her community and work family.
Ms. Kent retired in 2004 as a Senior Fire Prevention Officer. She embodied hard work, love, dedication, and strength. Some of those who knew her and worked with her, share how she would always be the first one to help an individual or family. She loved her family, her children, grandchildren and passionate about her community.
