RISK EVERYTHING at Red Sandcastle Theatre

Donation protected
Cement Factory, a new Toronto-based indie theatre company, joins NightShift Theatre to bring Risk Everything by acclaimed Canadian playwright George F. Walker to a local theatre in the east end.

Risk Everything is the last instalment in George F. Walker's Suburban Motel series of one-act plays. Fast-paced and absurd, this high-stakes comedy explores the darker corners of our capitalist society from the underdog's perspective. Its main characters are on the losing side of a rigged system, but they never give up and never stop believing they can win.

The Edmonton Journal said of Risk Everything: "George F. Walker has a knack for creating astonishing, vivid characters that exist beyond the confines of the stage."

And here’s why we need your money for our production of Risk Everything to be a success.

Cement Factory and NightShift Theatre are independent theatre companies with no corporate or government funding. Without your donation, our sole source of income comes from ticket sales. Now, with the high level of talent working on this production, we have no doubt this show will sell well, but being Indie means producing in small venues, with a limited number of seats. Even if we sell 100% of our tickets, close to half that money will be spent on production costs: theatre rental, performance rights, set, props, costumes, ... - there are many expenses involved in producing theatre. To pay these costs, traditional theatre companies rely on grants and sponsorships. Having access to neither, we rely on crowdfunding: you.

With your help, we can ensure the money from our ticket sales goes directly to our hard-working artists.

That's it. That's our pitch. Though our goal of $1000 will not cover all our production costs, it will go far (we have worked hard to keep our expenses to a bare minimum).  Please give what you can and share this campaign with your friends. Help us make this production of Risk Everything as successful as we know it can be.

Our eternal gratitude will be yours and we will proclaim it loudly over all our social media. Come see our show in May and let us return your love the best way we know how: by putting a smile on your face, joy in your heart, and laughter in your belly.

“Risk Everything is well worth the gamble.”

“Risk everything is an enjoyable farce with some poignant insights at its heart.”
                                                                                                                  - Dublin Live

“It's all about riding a wave of quicksilver–albeit over a seabed of ground glass.”
                                                                                                                  - Aisle Say, NY

“An invigorating walk on the wacky side.”
                                                                                                                  - LA Times

“In a word: Brilliant.”

“Extremely funny and provocative piece of theatre.”
                                                                                                               - Unforgettable Lines

“The tightly structured play unspools with perfect precision, moving, as the best farce does, from a premise with at least some pretense of naturalism toward an explosion of lunacy.”
                                                                                                              - The Globe and Mail

“The play itself is an absolute gem. Walker’s razor-sharp script walks the line between social satire and modern tragedy and features some of the funniest and most touching bits of dialogue in recent dramatic memory.”
                                                                                                                  - The Gazette
