Rising World Citizens travel to Europe!

I'm raising money to help some exceptionally ambitious students take the personally and academically enriching trip of a lifetime to Germany, Austria and Italy. They will visit a number of historic sites, including the medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Neuschwanstein castle and Dachau concentration camp near Munich, Mozart's birth house in Salzburg, the canals of Venice, Juliet's balcony in Verona, Michelangelo's David in Florence and the Colosseum in Rome. They will also receive 3 hours of college credit for this trip while still enrolled in high school!

Memphis Rise Academy is a tuition free college-preparatory charter school serving students in grades 6-11. We started our school in 2014 with the mission of providing a strong and structured education to the diverse student population of northeast Memphis. Our school demographics are proudly representative of the diversity of these neighborhoods at 49% Hispanic, 45% African American, 6% White, making Memphis Rise Academy one of Memphis’ most diverse educational environments.  Our school population is 90% eligible for free and reduced lunch.

Since our founding year, we have grown to serve 336 students in grades 6-8.  The newly-built high school serves 345 so far. Our students have grown, on average, roughly 25 percentile ranks in mathematics and 23 percentile ranks in reading on the nationally normed diagnostic assessment NWEA MAP since attending our school.  This growth has significantly altered our students’ entry levels of ability and firmly entrenched them on a path towards college readiness and success. Memphis Rise Academy was one of only three Memphis charter schools to be named a Tennessee Reward School (top 5% in academic achievement and academic growth) for our results in the 2018-2019 school year. This is the highest academic distinction given to public schools in the state and it is the second time in three years that Memphis Rise has achieved this incredible honor.

How the money will be used: We have 8 amazing kids trying to raise money for this trip. The entire $4000 will be evenly distributed among students who still have outstanding debt on their account.
