Rising from the Rubble: A Call for Support in Gaza

Dear Friends, Supporters, and Kind Hearts,

I come to you today with a heavy heart, seeking your support and solidarity for my family who has been deeply affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The devastation brought upon us has left us shattered and struggling to rebuild our lives amidst the ruins of war.

On January 26th, tragedy struck our family when my beloved father suffered from angina, a condition requiring immediate medical attention. Desperate to save his life, we rushed him to the hospital, clinging onto hope amidst the chaos of war. However, what awaited us was a grim reality of an overwhelmed healthcare system unable to cope with the sheer magnitude of the crisis. Despite our efforts and prayers, we tragically lost our father due to the collapse of the medical infrastructure, leaving a void in our hearts that can never be filled.

In addition to the profound loss of our father, we have also endured the displacement from our home over four times. In addition, the relentless bombings and airstrikes have reduced our cherished memories to rubble, leaving us displaced, with nowhere to turn.

Our family faces numerous challenges amidst the turmoil in Gaza. My mother, Fairouz, battles high blood pressure, and her necessary medications are no longer available in Gaza. I, Yasmeen, once aspired to pursue nursing at Al-Azhar University, until the conflict ravaged our city, obliterating not only my educational institution but also erasing all records of my academic achievements. Similarly, my sister Maha, on the brink of completing her undergraduate degree at A-Aqsa University, now finds herself without a university to call home or transcripts to validate her hard work. The weight of our father's absence burdens my 19-year-old brother Mahmoud, who mourns not just a parent but also his closest friend. Meanwhile, Mariam, our 15-year-old sister, and my 12-year-old twin brothers, Ayman and Abd Alkareem, grapple with the upheaval of their world, robbed of stability and security.

In the face of such adversity, we refuse to succumb to despair. We are determined to rise above the ruins and rebuild our lives, but we cannot do it alone. We need your help, your compassion, and your generosity to overcome this ordeal and emerge stronger than ever before.
