RIP Firefighter Pompier Ben Kaye

Ben Kaye, our colleague, firefighter brother and friend passed away on December 8th 2021. Ben was diagnosed in April 2021 and he fought an arduous fight against Cholangiocarcinoma (bile ducts cancer).

Ben is a pilar in his community of Mont Cascades. He grew up there, he worked there, he married his wife and raised his two girls there. He is well known all over Cantley as a firefighter and First Responder for Cantley for over 10 years. During that time, he answered the call to over 3 000 emergency calls- committing his time to help his community when they were in need.

Our Ben made a lasting impact on everyone who he interacted with. We have an opportunity to remember him in acknowledgement of the way he lived his life- community focused, giving, and always lending a hand to someone who was in need, or a shoulder to someone in pain. We will miss his laughter, his smile, and his personality greatly.

No one can fully prepare for an unexpected passing. Ben focused on a love of life and on recovery. His firefighter colleagues, family and friends are asking for your generosity to raise money for his family and the expenses that they will be facing.

RIP Firefighter #69 Ben Kaye

Ben Kaye, notre collègue, frère pompier et ami est décédé le 8 décembre dernier. Ben a été diagnostiqué en avril 2021 et il a mené un combat ardu contre le cholangiocarcinome (cancer des voies biliaires).

Ben est un pilier dans sa communauté de Mont-Cascades. Il y a grandi, il y a travaillé, il a épousé sa femme et y a élevé ses deux filles. Il est bien connu comme pompier et premier répondant pour la municipalité  de Cantley, et ce, depuis plus de 10 ans. Durant cette période, il a répondu à plus de 3 000 appels d'urgence, consacrant son temps à aider sa communauté lorsqu'elle en avait besoin.

Ben a eu un impact certain avec tous ceux et celles avec qui il a interagi. Il a vécu sa vie avec sa communauté en tête, aidant son prochain qui était dans le besoin, ou prêtant son épaule à quelqu'un qui souffrait. Son rire, son sourire et sa personnalité vont beaucoup nous manquer.

Personne ne peut pleinement se préparer à un décès si inattendu. Dans les derniers mois, Ben s'est concentré sur sa famille et sur son rétablissement.

Ses collègues pompiers, sa famille et ses amis sollicitent votre générosité pour amasser des fonds pour sa famille et les dépenses auxquelles elle devra faire face.

Il ne fait aucun doute que Ben a touché de nombreuses vies et restera dans la mémoire de tous comme une personne douce, gentille, attentionnée et compatissante avec un cœur de la grosseur du Mont-Cascades. Il nous manquera beaucoup.
