Rion\'s Battle with Leukemia

Donation protected
Rion is 15 years old and started getting sick a few months ago. He started getting headaches, neck pain, blurred vision to the point he didn\'t know who he was talking to unless he recognized their voice, he couldn\'t hardly walk without becoming out of breathe. He lives in an upstairs apartment with approximately 15 steps, this would take him about 30 minutes to walk up. Also, while walking up or down the stairs or by going from laying to standing he would throw up no questions asked.

He started going to the chiropractor to help with his neck pain but after going for a few weeks and becoming realigned he still was feeling worse than before. The chiropractor recommended he have an MRI which they found out he has mastoiditis and sinusitis. After taking medicine for several days and nothing helping we called the doctor again and went to an ear, nose, and throat doctor who referred him to go to the emergency room for fluids because he was so weak and pale.

At the E.R. they did blood work and another CT scan and found that his red blood cell count (RBC), white blood cell count (WBC), and platelet counts were extremely low. His RBC count should be at 14 and it was at 2.3. Also, with this they found blasts which they said are only found in Leukemia.

The hospital than told us that they were sending him to a larger hospital in another city by ambulance that night.  At this time they weren\'t 100% sure it was leukemia, so they were going to do testing to find out.

The next day it was confirmed to be leukemia, so far he has been given 4 liters (bags) of blood because his body quit producing it. He is still needing at least 2 more liters. The doctors were in disbelief that he was even still alive and WALKING with as little blood that he had.

Rion will have bone marrow testing Monday (Aug 7th) to find out exactly what type of leukemia, he will also have spinal fluid removed to test it as well.

The following day he will have a port-a-cath put in and the next day he will be starting chemotherapy. Rion will be in this hospital a minimum of two weeks which could be several months depending on the type of cancer that he has and how well he does. So far even with just the blood he is doing so much better but he is going to get worse before he can get better but we, his family are needing funds to help with his treatment so any donations will help!

We would like to thank you in advance for your generosity and will try and keep this updated as much as possible!
