Ricky Roca's Medical Fund
Donation protected
We are reaching out in hope of being able to raise money to help our cousin Ricky Roca fight a disease known as Hereditary Ataxia. Ricky inherited this disease from his mother. She passed away in 1987 when Ricky was only 14 years old. In 2013, Ricky lost his sister (his only sibling) to the same illness. Ricky also lost his father in 1998 due to a heart attack.
Ricky has a teenage son which he does his best to support with the small amount of disability he receives. Things have been very difficult for Ricky especially in the last few years. He is now disabled, living alone with no family that can help him and he has no way to acquire the funds he needs for treatment.
Ataxia is a lack of muscle coordination which may affect speech, eye movements, the ability to swallow, to walk, to pick up objects, and perform other voluntary movements. In his case, he is experiencing all the symptoms mentioned and others which make his life very difficult on a day to day basis. As time passes, unfortunately things are not getting any better.
For many years, he has been seeing physicians to address his disease and its debilitating symptoms. He has been treated with medications and physical therapy over the years, however his condition has not improved.
There have been some promising results through stem cell treatments (mostly done in international markets) but, he has found a US based facility which has been pursuing stem cell therapy with some promising results. This therapy can improve Ricky's quality of life.
The cost of the treatment is $25,000 and our goal is to raise $30,000 to allow Ricky to travel and stay the necessary amount of time in hopes to alleviate his horrible symptoms and improve my quality of life.
He is prepared to travel anywhere to receive the treatments necessary to help him.
Your financial support would mean the world to Ricky and will be greatly appreciated.
