Ricks army- Cancer will not win!!

Donation protected
How many of you take life for granted? Bad things always seem to happen on the news but never to you, never to anyone you know and life just continues as normal.

Until one day it happens.

A normal father in a normal life with a beautiful partner and 4 gorgeous little boys, the youngest being only 2 years old began to get headaches only 4 weeks ago, being a self employed groundworker he had to struggle to continue to work as the headaches gripped his life more and more every single day. The GP's put it down to lack of water, lack of sleep or stress despite numerous appointments and visits to the hospital it was not taken seriously.
As a last ditch attempt to help Rick, Katrina booked him an opticians appointment thinking perhaps he needed glasses.

This is when the nightmare began, the opticians noticed blood behind his eyes and sent him on a same day emergency referral to Maidstone hospital, there he underwent a CT scan, this CT scan led to an emergency MRI and finally the news came that Rick had a grade 4 butterfly glioblastoma in his brain.

He is 39 years old, they have given him 15 months.

He is undergoing a biopsy at Kings college hospital this coming Friday to determine what type of management pathway they can put him on but they cannot remove the tumour due to its location. This is not good enough, he is a young man with young children who do not deserve to lose their father. 4 young boys do not deserve to grow up without him and Katrina does not deserve to lose her partner. They are the first to help if anyone ever has any issues, so now Ricks army is going to come together to help them!

We are not going to accept this death sentence, in Germany they are offering immunotherapy with great results for people with similar diagnosis to Rick. We are asking for donations to book Rick in with a specialist, the treatment costs around £30,000 and can run alongside his normal treatment pathway, whilst we accept it may not cure his symptoms, it may give his sons more time to make memories with him and him to make memories with them.

Any additional money raised above the treatment cost will go towards travel to the hospitals and fighting this awful disease.

Katrina will be making a page on social media in order for people to follow their journey and provide comfort and support during this ongoing nightmare, we are going to raise the roof on this deadly disease and make sure cancer knows that this time we will not be beaten!!!

We are aware that times are tough for everyone right now so if you cant donate then please follow Katrina's page and share this appeal far and wide. Showing some love will make this journey less lonely and heartbreaking.

Finally, Kat and Rick we have got you. You are not alone. For every step of the way.

Thank you in advance from everyone involved in Ricks army, from Rick, from Katrina and from the boys xxx
