Rally For Rick Mumm: Help Fight ALS

As early as three years ago Rick Mumm, loving husband, father, son, brother and friend started experiencing the beginning symptoms of ALS, a degenerative muscle disease. This disease struck as Rick was nearing retirement, forcing him to stop working earlier than planned, and greatly affecting their family’s finances.
Rick is one of the kindest, most generous people we know, and would be the first in line to help someone in need. Now it is our turn to be there for him and his family.
As the disease progresses, loss of mobility and life in a wheelchair are now a reality for Rick. Normal, everyday life is suddenly a challenge. With all of the physical changes, it has become more difficult to continue to function as a family outside of the house. Equipment and in-home care have become costly as more support is needed to help Rick as time goes on.
With this being said, the current van being used is now becoming a risk for loading and unloading due to contractures that are now affecting both of Rick’s arms. The van lift has become obsolete. Parts are no longer being made, so needless to say, if it breaks down, the family and Rick will be without transportation.
Unfortunately, current health insurance that will help with a new wheelchair will not assist with a van to keep socialization, doctor appointments and general mobility needs.
Rick and Elaine are hoping to get a new van which addresses current and future mobility and safety needs. The new van will also allow Rick and Elaine to build as many adventures and create as many new memories as possible with their three children.
The need is urgent, and all of us who love Rick are asking for your help.
We are reaching out to loved ones, friends and family to share this need through social media and to please consider a donation.
Our goal is $23,000, which will go towards purchasing a new, safe van for Rick and the family.
