On November 12, 2019, Rick Huckaby was shot by an intruder in his home. This is a senseless act of violence and has caused untold damage. He had been in critical condition since the shooting and passed away just after 7pm on November 22.
Due to the nature of the incident, we are unable to go into too much detail, however it has been covered by the The Daily News.
Rick was a long-time resident of Kelso, WA, was very active in the community, and served as long-time board president at the Family Health Center, played Santa Claus at Relay for Life events, and more. He was a father, grandfather, husband, and friend to many, and has touched many, many lives.
Six months prior to the shooting, Rick's wife, Beckie, was hospitalized with a brain tumor and is unable to work. She is now left without an income and will have to find a new place to live following the shooting.
All funds will go to supporting Beckie, in providing food, housing, and to help with bills (medical and otherwise) due to both hospitalizations, as well as funeral expenses.
