Richard Lost Everything in Winter Storm 2022

Hello my name is Karen Roberts. This GoFundMe is to help Richard Brown rebuild his life after losing everything in the Winter Storm of 2022. 

1/3/2022 He was living on his sailboat in Willoughby Harbor Norfolk, VA. With two anchors set and 150 of chain his boat drug anchor, while he and his 2 cats were aboard with nowhere to go. It eventually smashed against the concrete bulkhead on Naval Air Station Norfolk VA. His boat is a total loss and everything he owned is under sea water drenched debris. The boat is dismasted and hull side crushed in.

Richard is an Army Veteran who was headed to the Caribbean to carry supplies to school children less fortunate. He put everything he had into his boat. Everything. He has literally nothing right now. Myself and my dear friends have put him up temporarily in a hotel. He has no clothes but the ones on his back. He has one cat as the other perished in the storm. He has no job. No car. What he does have is a kind spirit and will to rebuild.

***Alot has happened in a week. Compassionate donors saw a need and were more than willing to help. We had raised over $9k!

Friday 1/7/2022 Wavy schedules an 'Update Interview' with Richard. Turns out Richard is blindsided with controversial questioning about an ongoing court case of which Wavy received information about from the Commonwealth attorney's office. 

No one could have foreseen this plot twist. We stopped the fund raising efforts as it seemed to be the thing to do. However, Richard is still homeless and in dire need of help AND he now has this looming.

While some have asked for a refund some have reiterated their desire to help. 

GoFundMe has not refunded all donors as  asked two days ago and subsequently asked 3 more times. 

If you want a refund the best way will be to ask GoFundMe.

We are currently waiting to hear from GoFundMe.
