In weeks past, I've tried to search for the perfect words. It is not about the perfect summary to describe Rich & his awesome family but yet it's the gratitude I feel that all the words in the dictionary cannot depict the need and want to help the Resslers.
In late March of 2019, Rich Ressler was diagnosed with bulbar onset ALS. Like in his name, he has been rich with a life of hilarious contagious laughter, a better than Martha Stewart super green thumb, very intense/ competitive scrabble game playing, spontaneous dance offs, guitar jamming, family Florida trips and along the way the four beautiful daughters to raise. The family life most envy. I know I did. Just pure love & support.
After being diagnosed with ALS, a disease affecting motor neurons of the spinal cord, which causes progressive weakness and atrophy of muscles came all of the multiple tests and soon after the diagnosis that life for the entire family would flip inside/out. In spite of this disease, Rich continued on smiling in front of others but shedding tears behind closed doors.
In support of the entire ALS community, on September 28th, 2019 the entire Ressler family walked to raise money for ALS of Michigan. This helps out many ALS stricken local families with medical equipment and support. Rich ALStars raised $3500.00.
As months passed, Rich’s deteriorating condition has become their financial burden. Even with all of their family and friends contributing time and money the many doctor visit costs, 100.00+ out of pocket per each wheelchair transportation, equipment (wheelchair, ramps, bathing chairs etc) resulting in an unplanned reconstruction in their house. ALS is severely draining their available care resources. In short, the costs of living with this disease has exceeded their families capacity.
My part to help raise money will go directly to the family. It will help w/their past debt and all current & future needs as well as the outstanding medical bills.
