Rich Stevens' Medical Fundraiser

On May 6, 2017, Rich Stevens was diagnosed with a very rare stroke in his brain. It was a total blockage in the back of the brain where the blood drains out as well as controls a lot of functions.

Basically, a stroke is a "brain attack". It can happen to anyone at any time. It occurs when blood flow to an area of brain is cut off. When this happens, the brain cells are deprived of oxygen and begin to die. When brain cells die during a stroke, abilities controlled by that area of the brain such as memory and muscle control are lost. In Rich Stevens' situation, he had a thrombotic stoke, a blood clot (thrombus) formed in one of his arteries that supplied blood to his brain. As a result, he suffers from short term memory loss, confusion, and weakness in his left arm and leg.

The doctors are hopeful that at any given time by being on blood thinners,  the blood clot will eventually go away; however, while Rich was in the hospital, he got a life threatening infection from one of the many IV injection sites, while spending two weeks for the stroke in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Not only did his life change due to the stroke, but the doctors gave him a medication that he ended up being highly allergic to. Rich went into anaphylactic shock and almost died from his throat closing up. In addition, his entire body was covered all over with very painful hives and red blotches. After this scary reaction, Rich has since returned to the hospital six times now  and has been diagnosed with a very rare and deadly skin disease called,  "Stevens Johnson's Syndrome," which literally peels the skin off and is very painful (only 20,000 people in the world have it). In addition to his short term memory loss and confusion, he now suffers from blurry vision and terrible headaches.

On top of all this, Rich is the sole caregiver for his lovely mom.  As he has been in and out of the hospital, Rich had to hire people very quickly to take care of her around the clock ( a very costly expense in addition to all of the medical bills he incurred from the stroke and the Stevens Johnson Sydrome disease).

I have been reading alll these amazing posts on Rich's Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/richstevens) from friends family as well as his many fans of the Rich Stevens radio show.  Everyone is asking what to do, so I thought I would setup a Go Fund Me page to help Rich. He has spent almost five months in the hospital, and any contribution would help him to focus more on healing (and less on worrying about how he will pay all his medical bills as well as nursing care bills for his mom). I would really like to see him heal and get back to his very popular radio show "The Rich Stevens Show" that brings him so much joy! The last thing that the Rich should worry about during this hard time is financial stress.

Thank you for helping in whatever way you can.  Every little bit helps.
