Hi everyone! First off, thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Benny & I own and run a Filipino street food pop up in the San Joaquin Valley which is called “Rice Queen Social Club.” We have been popping up collectively for 2 years and we just hit our 1 year in Lodi not too long ago!
Last Saturday, to celebrate our one year and the end of the year, we popped up at a local Lodi dive bar. We had such a great night, however, the night did not end so well for me. After a successful pop up and taking in a very huge amount of sales, we were robbed of our cash box for that night. In the downtown area, Two men approached my car and asked if I need help loading or unloading some dishes. I hesitantly thanked them and denied their offer until they noticed the cash box safe in my open trunk. They quickly took notice and started to ask how much was in there. From that moment on, we started to argue and it became physical and ultimately was attacked on Pine Street. While down, they ended up taking and running off with my cash safe which held all the sales from that night and then some.
I am asking for donations to keep our pop up in the green to cushion us in our next few pop ups lined up. Donations can come in any amount, I would just like to compensate what we lost that night so we can continue popping up comfortably.
