Ricardo Valdivia COVID19 Complications

   Dear Reader,

      I have written this description in English and Spanish. The alternate version immediately follows.

      Greetings, the purpose of this message is to ask for some mercy and your valuable help. About three months ago, my husband got infected with the fatal virus Covid-19. He was hospitalized in the city of Eagle Pass, Tx. then transferred to San Antonio, Tx. and is currently in Houston, Tx. Those three months have been critical passing through four hospitals. Everything started with a small loss of oxygen on his lungs turning later to pneumonia caused by Covid-19. His situation turned worse and worse over time making him lose about 80 pounds and having his lungs perforated. Furthermore, his heart got affected on the right side affecting his SA node causing him consecutive heart attacks with possible brain damages. His situation turned bad as his intestines got paralyzed and started vomiting leading to his weight loss. When he was awakened from the induced coma, his first reaction was to pull the tube out of his mouth causing damage to his vocal cords leading to loss of speech and an impediment to eating through the mouth. In order to receive food, a tube was connected directly to his stomach. He was surrounded by depression all over his mind due to the inability to be healthy and back with his family, but despite these events, my husband has been able to overcome because his body and mind are strong having desires to live. He is currently at St. Luke's Medical Center Hospital waiting for a lung transplant. Doctors have not been able to perform this transplant since his health is delicate and they need to strengthen him for surgery. I, his wife, Araceli Valdivia, have been by his side all this time to support him physically and emotionally also fighting the depression and the agony that he was passing. During this time, I left my three boys alone back home at eagle pass while they focused on their studies. Now one of them is here in Houston with me to help me and support me; while the youngest and the oldest boys stay home to help me with some paperwork and duties that need to be done in eagle pass. By being in a foreign city, high expenses have been generated. My husband has been fired unjustifiably from his job due to his inability to attend work. I am looking for help in the city and government programs, but I have not been able to get it. They were going to take away my husband's insurance from his job because he was fired but a group of family and friends cooperated to pay it.
      I come to you by this means since we are at a critical and desperate moment. We have not gotten any help from any sources and that is why we have desperately come to you.
      My husband Ricardo is a serious person and committed to his family, friends, and work. Previously, he worked in a private company in which he developed a lot but for financial reasons the company closed due to Covid. However, he found work in the purchasing department in a public job. While Ricardo had been working for forty-five days, he was infected with the virus. Later he was fired for non-compliance with his job, despite them being aware of the situation of my husband being intubated and in an induced coma for more than a month. In the dismissal letter, it said that he was fired for not reporting to work and for not giving notice of the situation he was going through. Despite the fact, that his boss called me constantly to find out about his condition and sent messages that I answered letting her know the situation in which my husband is going through.
      Again, I come to you begging you for your valuable help and mercy. If you can help us financially with what you can or at least sharing this message to people that you know. Thank you for your time in reading this and for cooperating in our situation.

    Saludos, el propósito de este mensaje es pedir misericordia y su valiosa ayuda. Hace unos tres meses, mi esposo fue infectado con el fatal virus del Covid-19. Fue hospitalizado en la ciudad de Eagle Pass, Tx. luego trasladado a San Antonio, Tx. y actualmente se encuentra en Houston, Tx. Estos tres meses han sido críticos al pasar por cuatro hospitales. Todo comenzó con una pequeña pérdida de oxígeno en sus pulmones que luego se convirtió en una neumonía causada por Covid-19. Su situación empeoró cada vez más con el tiempo, lo que le hizo perder alrededor de 80 libras y se le perforaron los pulmones. Además, su corazón se vio afectado en el lado derecho afectando su nodo SA provocando ataques cardíacos consecutivos con posibles daños cerebrales. Su situación empeoró cuando sus intestinos se paralizaron y comenzaron a vomitar, lo que provocó su pérdida de peso. Cuando fue despertado del coma inducido, su primera reacción fue sacar el tubo de la boca causando un daño en sus cuerdas vocales llevando a una perdida del habla y un impedimento de comer a través de la boca. Para poder recibir nutrición, se le fue conectado un tubo directo a su estomago. Estaba rodeado de depresión en toda su mente debido a la incapacidad de estar saludable y regresar con su familia pero a pesar de estos eventos, mi esposo a podido superarse porque su cuerpo y mente están fuerte teniendo muchas ganas de vivir. Actualmente se encuentra en el Hospital St. Luke's Medical Center esperando un trasplante de pulmón. Los médicos no han podido realizar este trasplante ya que su salud es delicada y necesitan fortalecerlo para la cirugía. Yo, su esposa, Araceli Valdivia, he estado a su lado todo este tiempo para apoyarlo física y emocionalmente también luchando contra la depresión y la agonía que estaba pasando. Durante este tiempo, dejé a mis tres hijos solos en casa en Eagle Pass mientras se concentraban en sus estudios. Ahora uno de ellos está aquí en Houston conmigo para ayudarme y apoyarme; mientras que mi hijo menor y el mayor se quedan en casa para ayudarme con algunos trámites y tareas que deben hacerse en Eagle Pass. Al estar en una ciudad extranjera se han generado altos gastos. Mi esposo ha sido despedido injustificadamente de su trabajo debido a que no pudo asistir al trabajo por su incapacidad. Estoy buscando ayuda en los programas de la ciudad y del gobierno pero no he podido conseguirla. Le iban a quitar el seguro médico a mi esposo de su trabajo porque lo despidieron, pero un grupo de familiares y amigos cooperaron para pagar unos meses.
   Vengo a ustedes por este medio ya que estamos en un momento crítico y desesperado. No hemos recibido ayuda de ninguna fuente y es por eso que hemos acudido desesperadamente a ustedes.
   Mi esposo Ricardo es una persona seria y comprometida con su familia, amigos y trabajo. Anteriormente trabajó en una empresa privada en la que se desarrolló mucho pero por razones económicas la empresa cerró debido al Covid. Sin embargo, encontró trabajo en un departamento de compras. Mientras Ricardo había estado trabajando durante cuarenta y cinco días, fue infectado con el virus. Posteriormente lo despidieron por incumplimiento de su trabajo, a pesar de que estaban al tanto de la situación de mi esposo intubado y en coma inducido por más de un mes. En la carta de despido decía que fue despedido por no presentarse a trabajar y por no dar aviso de la situación por la que atravesaba. A pesar de que su jefe me llamaba constantemente para enterarse de su condición y me enviaba mensajes que yo respondía haciéndole saber la situación por la que atraviesa mi esposo.
   Una vez más, vengo a suplicarles su valiosa ayuda y misericordia. Si puede ayudarnos económicamente con lo que pueda o al menos compartiendo este mensaje con las personas que conoce. Gracias por su tiempo leyendo esto y por cooperar en nuestra situación.
