Ricardo Rivera's family

Gracias.
Descansa en paz querido amigo.

It is regrettably that I inform you all that our great friend, Ricardo Rivera Sotomayor, passed away suddenly this past 21st of November 2017, at 46 years of age. We still await the results of the forensic report.

We, who knew him during his short journey on earth, know of his dedicated friendship, loyalty, humility and joy. He touched many hearts, never hesitating in lending a helping hand to those in need and always doing the best he could.

He was class president of his high school graduating class, at Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos School in Levittown, and also class president of his Chemical Engineering graduating class at the Mayaguez Campus of the University of Puerto Rico.

During his last years he’d been living in Tampa, FL, USA, but holding always in his heart an immeasurable love for his native island, for salsa music, for bomba and plena, and, of course,  for his puerto rican flag that he carried with him proudly everywhere he went.

For Ricardo, his family was everything. Not only was he an adoring husband but also a devoted father. His untimely and unexpected departure will leave his widow Eileen Barreto and children Xaymara Rivera, Ricardo Rivera and Karina Rivera with a tremendous grief and a difficult economic situation in the months to come. It is, given the current circumstance, that I ask humbly for spiritual as well as economic support. We don’t expect big amounts, just a heartfelt cooperation from anyone willing to help.

Rest in Peace, our dear Friend.
