Smart Choices is a charity which helps break the cycle of youth violence by helping young people make the right choices and avoid the criminal justice system. Our programmes help young people understand they do not have to carry a knife or spend a life time in prison.
The seemingly endless cycle of youth violence and knife crime should concern every one of us.
Smart Choices is a charity which empowers vulnerable young people to help break the cycle of intergenerational trauma and youth violence. Growing up today is challenging enough for our children and young people but even more so for those who, on a daily basis, face trauma, potentially unstable home lives and threats of youth violence and now all children and young people have the added stress and anxiety that the pandemic brings. We find ourselves living in a confusing, super-fast and addictive, online/social media reality; our children and young people, require more support and guidance than ever.
Smart Choices helps ‘ at risk’ young people understand that the choices they make, and the decisions they take in haste and in anger, not only could have a devastating effect on their lives in the long term, but also could heavily impact the lives of others. Smart Choices interventions and programmes focusses on improving vulnerable young people’s mental health, well being and helps build emotional resilience so they can avoid the criminal justice system and become happy and productive adults.
The Smart Choices programmes are delivered by a very experienced team, in primary and secondary schools and alternative educational establishments. The charity has adapted its services so they can be delivered on line during these difficult times.
