Rhubarb Market STILL needs YOU!

Rhubarb could really use your help.  This past year has been a struggle and while I have been resistant to doing a GoFundMe campaign, I feel like I am at the point that it is necessary.  I've really tried to avoid asking for money outright.  Instead, this winter I made a plea for more shoppers to visit the shop and while I recieved a huge response on our Facebook page and many sweet notes of encouragement, it didn't translate into the increased sales I had been counting on.  I've been encouraged by a few folks to try this platform in hopes that it will be more successful.  I want you to know up front how grateful I am for any help you can offer.

When I opened Rhubarb Market, it was because I wanted to help strengthen and grow the sustainable food economy of North Central Washington by providing the community with better access to healthy, local food while giving growers and producers a consistent and strong market for their goods.

We admittedly started out under-capitalized and have struggled since our first year to keep up, let alone grow. We are attempting to build and run a small business with very narrow profit margins in a somewhat weak economy all while competing with large corporate stores that have more variety and better buying power.
We've had a rough year.  Slow sales, a hard winter/late spring, equipment failures that resulted in significant product loss and repair bills, and a project that took longer than expected.  All of this has led to a depleted bank account, more debt than I would like, and some discouragement.

I believe we have a lot going for us: everyone needs to eat, the demand for healthy and locally grown/produced food continues to grow, our kitchen is finally done and we are now have a beautiful space to use for gatherings and classes.  PLUS, we truly have some of the most loyal and dedicated customers a business could ask for.
I like to think that Rhubarb Market adds a unique and valuable service to Wenatchee and I am determined to see it succeed, but I need your help.

Of course my first wish is that you come shop with us!
We may not have everything you need for that one stop shopping experience, but what we do have is some seriously wonderful produce and quality grocery items.  By spending a few extra dollars in our store each week you would make a HUGE difference to us and all the people we work with!

I deeply value the relationships we've created with our local farmers, suppliers, and customers. I feel strongly that what we are doing is important work and I am determined to keep building those relationships and connections. I hope you agree. If you do and you are able, I ask that you support our campaign and share it with others.  If just HALF of the folks that follow us on our Facebook page committed to donating $20, that would be over $15,000 we would have to: pay off debt, repair/maintain our equipment, get our deli case up and running, and do some much needed marketing.  Whoa!

Thanks all for taking the time to read this.

With much love and appreciation,
