Rhonda’s Transplant Fund
Donazione protetta
Those of you who know Rhonda know how special of a person she is.
Previously as a Nurse she devoted her life to taking care of others, never hesitating to put others needs before hers regardless of the situation, now however she is in need of help herself.
Over the past 5 years she has courageously and silently battled numerous life threatening medical issues. First a courgeous battle with Breast Cancer, resulting in 6 surgeries. During her battle with Breast Cancer, a Brain Aneurysm was discovered resulting in the need of a stint inserted in her brain as well as multiple Angiograms both during and after the discovery of the aneurysm.
Now cruelly on the same day she was told she BEAT Breast Cancer her Oncologist informed us she has MDS or Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Basically Bone Marrow Cancer which ultimately will turn into Acute Myeloid Leukemia. This is the same blood disorder Robin Roberts of Good Morning America fought and beat.
The only possible cure for this disease is a Bone Marrow Transplant. November 30th Rhonda had a port placed into her chest so she can begin 3 rounds of Chemo starting Monday December 4th. After the Chemo we will travel to Nashville where she will begin 5 days of extremely strong Chemo to completely destroy her immune system, she will have 1 day off to allow the Chemo to clear her body, on the 7th day she will receive a Bone Marrow Transplant. Once this is complete, Rhonda will be required to remain in the hospital under extreme isolation for a minimum of 30 days. After her blood count levels reach a certain level we will be allowed to move her out of the hospital, however we will be required to remain within 30 min drive of the transplant center for up to 90 more days or until her blood levels reach a safe and stable level.
Since we live in Knoxville this will be an incredibley expensive undertaking. She will require a caregiver round the clock 24/7 for the entire time we are required to be close to the center.
After 5 continuous years of battling Rhonda’s health issues we have spent thousands on medical bills and have struggled to stay ahead but can’t continue to afford what’s coming on our own. I want to be there for my wife in her time of need however can’t afford to just take 4 months off from work. For those of you who know me know I don’t ask for help but I need help this time. Anything you can give would mean so much to both my wife and I. We would be forever grateful and we will gladly return the generosity to others when we are able to again.
Thank you
