Double Lung Transplant Fund

Donation protected
In January, 2018, Heather Coles (Noonan) will be moving to Toronto for up to 2 years, while she waits for a double lung transplant. She has Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, which causes her to rely on oxygen 24/7. Her lung efficiency is seriously declining as time goes on, and this is her very last option at prolonging her life.

In 1994, Heather was in good health, until she was in an unfortunate car accident during a winter storm; she was hit head on by a half tonne truck. She was trapped in her vehicle for 3 hours while emergency services worked to free her. It took the jaws of life to get her out. Both of her legs were completely crushed and her jaw was broken, among many other serious injuries. Since that day, she has had countless surgeries to reconstruct her feet and legs, and many other surgeries to try to give her back the quality of life she knew before the car collision.

She has spent her days since the accident in and out of hospitals,  at endless doctor's appointments, and in bed. She has never been a smoker and works very hard at maintaining as healthy a lifestyle as she possibly can. She was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension in 2014.

Heather recently found out that she is a candidate for a double lung transplant, which will be done in Toronto, Ontario at Toronto General Hospital. We are hoping to raise funds to help pay for the costs of her moving to Toronto for up to 2 years, which will include airfare, renting an apartment for her and her sister, transportation fees to and from the hospital, and other everyday living expenses. (Her sister will be moving as well to assist with Heather's daily routine, as her husband will need to stay home to continue working.) The costs to cover everything will be exponential, and for that reason we  have started this Fund.

The surgery will be done as soon as a suitable match is available, which will hopefully be in the near future. Once the surgery has been performed, Heather will have to remain in Toronto for 3 months, to ensure the procedure was succesful and that her body has accepted her new lungs. Any funds raised that aren't used will be donated to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association Of Canada.
