Reynaldo A. Ortiz passed away on April 11, 2019 at 4am. He left behind a legacy for the community and his family. Reynaldo was an architect with Cavazos Architects for 30 years and helped designed many buildings for Laredo from the  Clock tower for the University of Heath Science Center  to J.W. Nixon High School. Rey was also a founding member of the Laredo Chess Club since 1996, which gave the youth a platform to play the game they loved. He also served the community by being the vice president of the Kiwanis Club which aimed to help raise money for students. A graduate of United High School, class of 74,  Rey then attended Texas A&M University and was part of the A&M Corps of Cadets, Company A-1 ( "Animal A" ).  After graduating with a Bachelors in '78, Reynaldo served in the military and was honorably discharged as a captain. He returned to A&M College Station and received his Masters in '86.  Reynaldo A. Oritz was a loving husband to his wife, Norma A. Ortiz and a loving father to his four kids, Erika L. Ortiz (Philipp Anthony Lira Sr.), Roxana A. Ortiz (Jesus Gutierrez), Carlos A. Ortiz and myself, as well as being a wonderful grandpa to Philipp Anthony Lira Jr. Above all this, Rey was an organ donor and would be proud to know he is going to be giving people their eyesight back, to helping a child with a cleft lip, and so much more.  This unfortunate and heartbreaking death was sudden and has hit his family and friends harshly. We ask for donation, no matter how little, to please give us a hand in laying our hero to rest.  With a much appreciation,
Lori A. Ortiz
