There's no right time or right place or right way to ask for help when you need it.
In November of last year, I was diagnosed with liver cancer at 36. The most prominent and overwhelming feeling I've had since that day was the guilt that I could be leaving my children behind because of this disease. I know this role too well. After losing my own Mom to cancer, there could be no nightmare worse than to hurt those that I love so much by letting this disease win again.
The fight isn't over yet, but my oponent is cheating. At this point in time, the very word "time" is all I have. So, right now, I'm focused on my number 1 priorities, hence trying to have some feeling of control over this situation and setting up the structure of help for the family I love.
The purpose of this GoFundMe site is to capture the support for my kids as we face this disease head on together and that, despite my hardest efforts, might change the course of plans I had originally intended: dual income family, education, strong support system, and no stressors at night when they lay their heads down on their pillows when I can't be there to kiss them goodnight.
Thank you for all of your support. Don't give up yet; I know I sure haven't. But, know that I am just one mother trying to protect what I can while I still have the fight in me.
