Ret. MGYSGT Melvin Shott Memorial Services

On Oct. 27 my dad, Melvin Shott,  was getting ready to go on a 14 day cruise with friends and wife to the Panama Canal and celebrate their 48th wedding anniversary to my mother Rebecca Shott. He passed out during muster prior to setting sail. The cruise line quickly cared for him and advised that he should go to the ER and get off the ship due to the possibility of it being a stroke and lack of equipment at sea. He got off the ship and was take Galveston ER and later discharged. After multiple testing and several specialist and hospitals on November 8, he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer with an inoperable brain tumor and several lesions on the brain that quickly deteriorated his health. He served 26 years in the United States Marine Corps with the lung cancer tied to his services from the Vietnam war and exposure to Agent Orange. He has been the sole provider to his housewife Rebecca which he loved very deeply and adored. There marriage has been one I have admired and look up to. We love our dad very much but no longer want him in pain nor a financial burden on my mom. Thanks to everyone for all your support during this difficult time.
