OUR RESTAURANT EMPLOYEES NEED FOOD HELP NOW!
On March 16, 2020, Governor Polis mandated that due to the public health risk of COVID-19, all restaurants and bars needed to close. This action had immediate devastating effects for tens of thousands of people working in the hospitality industry. Our local company alone laid off almost 250 employees in a single moment.
Many of our employees live paycheck to paycheck, and are suddenly faced with the terrifying prospect of not being able to feed themselves and their families. Even if they are able to get onto the crashing website for unemployment, it will be weeks before they will see any government support and they are in immediate need.
We’ve decided to create this GO-FUND me account so that our friends, families, and community can help us support our employees during this crisis.
Your donations will allow us to purchase food from our Food Service Provider, and create weekly food donations for the hardworking people who have supported us for so long.
Each family would receive milk, eggs, rice, potatoes, fresh produce and some meat, as well as whatever else we can provide.
We’ve calculated that each family will need a $50 donation a week, and at our first effort to evaluate, we have approximately 75 families in dire need. As of now, we are estimating a closure of up to 2 months, so we’ve set our goal at $30,000.
100% of your donation will go to this program and will go directly to these people. These are people with whom we have worked for years, and in some cases, decades.
Our hearts are broken for all of us in our community, and I hope people will step up and financially contribute to support these people who have made such a huge sacrifice for the greater good.
If you would like to donate, please do. Literally ANY amount will help. Lenny, Jerry and I would be grateful, but even more so are the many people who might rest a little easier knowing they have access to food.
