Mother, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, Mama P, Ms. Carol, Mama Bear – she was known by many endearing nicknames all of which remain accurate reflections of her beautiful spirit.
When her daughter was approaching the seventh grade, Carol moved her and Alexis from hometown Wheaton, Maryland down to Charleston, SC. Fifteen years have passed since they arrived to what would become their permanent home and they have been an enamored mother/daughter duo ever since. Ms. Carol birthed one brilliantly shining star but she truly mothered all of us. If you had the blessing of meeting Ms. Carol then she most likely contributed to your life in positively irreplaceable ways. Carol selflessly and unconditionally helped, held, loved, laughed with, and gratefully embraced every soul that had the pleasure of encountering hers.
Carol constantly encouraged and inspired everyone around her to seek joy in this life while deeply caring for everybody she knew. Carol was a stranger to no one.
Even if you had not met her previously, her permanently radiant smile instantly made anyone feel like a friend or family.
While nothing may ever prepare a person for the devastating and sudden loss of a parent, there are many of us that find ourselves particularly less prepared. Carol Papalazarus passed away peacefully in her sleep the dawn of August 3, 2019. The light and love she so generously brought to countless lives will infinitely prevail through all of those which she has impacted. It is now our responsibility to carry out Ms. Carol’s wishes. It is our responsibility to be there for her only daughter. Matters and means must urgently arise to assist the smoothness of such a heartbreaking transition. I am seeking support for Carol’s only daughter, for Carol. Please think of and help her daughter in the same loving way that Ms. Carol helped and thought of everyone else.
Please keep in mind that this is one of the most difficult times any person may experience. Everyone is capable of loving and supporting the Papalazarus legacy in some way whether through donation or otherwise. On top of facing the abrupt, tragic loss of her mother, without any siblings or virtually any other blood relatives, Alexis finds herself alone in handling the time-sensitive difficulties listed below.
Ms. Carol willed to be cremated and for her daughter to inherit all of her possessions. We must provide secure storage of all of Carol’s belongings. Safe storage of household items costs a deposit + monthly fee. Being displaced from her home for the last decade and a half, Carol’s daughter has only a matter of days to acquire the finances required to move someplace else. Cost of moving: security deposit, first month’s rent roughly averaging $1500 minimum
From the depths of my love for this family I ask that you do anything you might be able to, for Alexis & for Carol. You may donate and/or share this fundraiser at any time. There will undoubtedly be a memorial service to celebrate her life, it is just too much, too soon right now.
