Residential Trip and Wider Community Fundraiser

Friends of Pebble Brook School would like to raise funds for a residential trip at a hostel in the Yorkshire Dales. In the past we have taken our post 16 students to organised 'PGL' type activities and this will provide a small amount of these type activities. However, this trip will also enhance independence and life skills as students will be expected to make their own beds, prepare their own breakfast and lunch as well as plot and plan outdoor excursions such as walking or climbing.

The funding will support accommodation for the staff who are giving up their homelife during a working week to play a full part in the residential.

The money raised will allow up to 15 young people from the school community the opportunity to be away from home. For some this will be their first trip from home and the only opportunity they will have to experience a different part of the country. This experience will be life changing for many of the young people. It will give them opportunities which otherwise they would never experience.

We have a number of staff who volunteer in the wider community supporting disadvantaged families in our locality over their own weekend. This is after working a five day full week. Some of the funds raised will pay towards one off donations to staff who may be cooking and preparing food at our school cafe so as free lunches and breakfasts can be provided to families in the Southcourt and Walton Court areas.
