Reshape my corneas, Reshape my life

I have had awful eyesight for as long as I can remember. I can't recall a time in my life in which I was able to function without the use of glasses or contact lenses. When i was twelve years old, I got my first pair of contacts. That was the first time I ever saw myself without a pair of glasses on. I knew, right then and there, that I never wanted to put glasses on my face ever again if I didn't have to. That's when I learned about laser eye surgery, and that's when I knew that I wanted it. 

Laser eye surgery is the safest and most efficient surgery I can imagine getting. The procedure itself only takes minutes, but the results can last a lifetime. The cost of my procedure will include the pre-op appointment, the procedure itself, four post-op appointments, and all of the medication I'll need before, during, and after the procedure. I've been quoted at what I believe to be a very fair rate, but I need to have my procedure done before the end of July to keep my rate so low. Now it's only a matter of reaching my goal in time and changing my life.

I've never asked for anything this big before, and it's a little terrifying to do so. No one should feel under any obligation to donate more than they can, or anything at all. This, to me, would be greater than any birthday gift, holiday present, vacation, or "just because" trinket. This would genuinely change my life in more ways than anyone can know.

There's nothing more that I want in the world, than to just wake up and see it for as beautiful as it is without needing any accommodation. If I could wake up and see my parents' faces clearly, and take a shower without relying on muscle memory, and see my own hands without holding them an inch away from my face, I don't think that I could wake up ungrateful on any day for the rest of my life.

I'll turn 25 this September. After that, I'll have one year to get myself established away from my parental units. I'll be on my way to my own health insurance, finding my lifelong career, and moving toward making my own family. Now is the time for this surgery. Now is the time to kickstart the rest of my life. Now, while I still have the support and the safety net of my family. Now is the time to start my life, for the first time, with the clearest view of what my future can be.
