Research with Whale Sharks

Recently, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology. I accomplished this with many honors…Dean’s List, Outstanding Graduate Award, Cum Laude, & Student Commencement Speaker.

Some have asked what I wanted for graduation, at the time, I did not have an answer.
I now have an answer.

Back in 2010, swimming with a whale was the catalyst that inspired me to return to school.  I am now on a trajectory to obtain my Ph.D. Before committing to graduate school, there is something that I want to pursue.

I recently accepted a position to volunteer with the Large Marine Vertebrate Institute in the Philippines.  With them, I will be participating in Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus) research in Oslob, Cebu.

To participate, I am required to contribute the monetary funds to cover the cost of food, housing, & transportation.  I am also required to supply my own free-diving fins and pay for my visas.

What I am asking is not traditional. I know it is atypical.

But, would you be willing to support me in pursuing my dream in conducting whale shark research in the Philippines?

Any little bit helps.
Please share.

Thank you.
