Rescuing Rescue

Tax deductible
This community has been extremely generous & supportive of us from the very beginning nine years ago. You must've known that our ability to save lives depended on your donations. You must've realized we would be nothing without you. And so we ask you to reach out again, and show RESCUE that he's worth saving, and that we value his life. Rescue is the name we gave him, because, he is exactly what we stand for. His name is in our name, and we will make every effort to make him whole again. His spirit and will-to-live is warm & inspiring. But his body is broken in unimaginable ways. This is his story:

On July 31st we received a desperate plea for help with a dog that was sick, lethargic, injured, and suffering from starvation and heat exhaustion as it was over 100 degrees that day. He was covered in ticks, and cheat grass was embedded all over his fur. He laid there gratefully as our volunteers began the process of making him comfortable and whole again. Our volunteer held his head in her hands and WILLED HIM to be okay as they worked on him.  Over the last few weeks, RESCUE has shown us his fighting spirit. But we found out the day before yesterday, that, without our help,  the odds are stacked against him..

RESCUE has two breaks ~ in his left shoulder and leg. But those are secondary concerns,  BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA (possibly from being hit by a car) are the words that the vet used ~ causing a thoracic muscle tear creating a diaphragmatic hernia. In essence, the tear has caused/allowed RESCUE'S vital organs to shift and relocate themselves, crowding his lungs, and causing fluid build-up in his lungs, not unlike the painful condition that some humans suffer from.

WE NEED YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER! Wags has endured an onslaught of medical bills in just a few short weeks. THREE dogs in just 4 months have been referred to WSU for surgical intervention. RESCUE'S case is so emergent that his referral to WSU the day before yesterday has resulted in his surgery taking place today!

RESCUE'S surgery is estimated to cost between $4,000-$6,000. The procedure will bring him relief from his pain, and allow him to live normally one day soon. It will give him his life back. We cannot say no to this. Because RESCUE is in our name. He's a part of us now, and we never even considered turning our backs on him.

His success depends on us, and we depend on you. Please consider donating. No amount is too small. Your donations are tax deductible, and we need your support.
