Pals, my small dear house in Vermont has been hit hard by flooding, frozen pipes, mold and mayhem, with much of my work, and many/most belongings defiled by water, rendering it quite unlivable, though not unlovable, and I really could stand any help you can think of, as I am currently without my home or transport -- i am a floaty wafter, I know I have friends, and I will be okay--

This is an old-fashioned barn-raising for Wild Honey's dear friend, Syd Straw .  A stalwart, generous, and immensely colorful member of our Wild Honey Foundation musical troupe, Syd Straw urgently needs our help.  This is our chance to give back for Syd's many years of Wild Honey generosity by making her life whole once again.

 Here's the current situation: Syd is precariously camped out on the porch of her flood-devastated Vermont home in a tent.   She is without a vehicle to get to her gigs, to the train station, or even into town for groceries.  She has been scraping by through the kindness of her neighbors, but only narrowly.   It's a short summer in Vermont and we need to fix her house before the cold and snow return.  Time is of the essence.  We can do this.  We already have a number of kind, talented folks (we could use more) who will be volunteering their labor and expertise to do the job for a very reasonable sum.  We also need generous donations of materials!

Overall, we need $25,000 to rescue Syd. 

UPDATE:  We have surpassed our goal of $25,000!   Of course, as anyone who has done extensive work on an old house knows that costs almost always outrun even the best intended estimates.  Please help us make sure that Syd's rescue is fully accomplished, in the best possible way.   We are operating on a shoe-string, so ALL contributions will be put to very good use!

Here's the plan:

Stage 1: $2000, the clean out- Clear out the house and store what will be reused in a shed (made from a homemade kit).  Dumpster and haulage fees.

Step 2:  $2500- Replace copper plumbing with pex and pex connectors.  It's a system guaranteed for 25 years , and will pay out on any repairs for water damage from failure on their parts for 10 years.   It is a good system for cold climates.  

Assorted materials:

Dry wall $1500

Doors $1,000

Lighting $1000

Electric $1000

$2500: Flooring is $5 per foot . 

$6000 for non-volunteer labor, paint, materials delivery, miscellaneous unexpected expenses, and possible extra to deal with the special handling of the toxic materials in the home.

A vehicle for Syd-a used, small truck.   $6,000-$8000

 All donations are tax deductible beyond the value of any reward.   

$25,000 will make Syd safe and self-sufficient once again

Wild Honey Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit,  creates events to fund autism-related organizations AND musicians-in-need, like Syd.

Every donation of $25 (or more) will get a chance to win a pair of super-prime tickets VIP tickets (the seats of your choice) to our 2020 Wild Honey Orchestra big show. 

Every donation of $50 (or more) also get a chance to win two passes to our 2020 Wild Honey Orchestra Dress rehearsals.

Every donation of $100 will get a 15 minute Skype session with Syd singing 3 songs (Syd must approve all requests).

Every donation of $200 will get a 30 minute Skype session of 6 songs (Syd must approve all requests).

Every donation of $500 will get a 50 minute Skype session of 10 songs (Syd must approve all requests).
